Speed

Fellow Red Bull athlete Scott Speed stopped by to say hello to his RB brethren. TRB blogsters eavesdropped on the conversation .....

So rumor has it you look good in a cowboy hat. Do you own one?
SPEED: I used to have one, but I am currently in the market for a new one...

What's your first car you ever bought?
SPEED: Still haven't bought one actually

Where are you calling home right now?
SPEED: The middle of the Atlantic

How long has it been since you lived in the U.S.?
SPEED: Since 2003

We hear you like cycling. Charlotte's a big cycling town. Any chance you might call it home one day?
SPEED: Well the most difficult thing about moving to America is going to be to find a place where Valentina, my Austrian girlfriend, likes and so far she has given Charlotte the thumbs up!

What's your favorite food?
SPEED: Valentina's spaghetti

A taste for BBQ is a must in the South. Have you sampled the local BBQ?
SPEED: Not yet but quality BBQ is Definitly something I have missed in Europe

Do the words "Boogity Boogity Boogity" mean anything to you?
SPEED: Other than hearing it on TV no...

Can one "get er done" in F1 racing?
SPEED: I tried....

Aside from racing itself, what's the biggest challenge you faced overall in F1?
SPEED: The politics in F1 are over the top!

First 3 words that come to mind when thinking about NASCAR?
SPEED: Rubbin is Racing

What/Who's your current inspiration?
SPEED: Ricky Bobby

Thanks, Scott! Godspeed (Sorry we can't help ourselves!)

I just love Scott Speed, but I really don't want him racing NASCAR. I already can't handle Brian and AJ not making the races, I would lose it seeing Scott go home as well.

Did you guys see Brian in 1st Practice? That 83 car looks fantastic! He has a good qualifying draw, coming out 33rd.

Good luck in Quals boys!

WE BELIEVE!

If Scott wants a seat, add a third car...get associate sponsors...

AJ didn't make the show. This is getting ridiculous! How come the 84 team can't catch a break?

Yeah!! Brian's in! What happened to AJ's car? I got home too late to see?

AJ misses another race, and he was quick enough in practice to make it in!!

Somebody want to explain to me how that happens, and at a track he qualified for the last time they were here.

It's getting really old...really fast!!

Didn't see his run, but I'm thinking going out early would probably hurt.

IF I WAS BOSS:

"86" the 84 team for the rest of the season. Too expensive to keep showing up to miss races.

The reason 84 team can't make a race: THE DRIVER!!

Scott Speed wouldn't do any better, either.

Way to go Brian! Bring home the checkered!

Great job today Brian! It's going to be awesome seeing you do double duty. Here's hoping for a fantastic points day on Sunday.

What did happen to AJ? He had a pretty good car in practice. He's missing way too many races and I know he's got the skill!

Who sets up the 84 car? You get it fastest enough in practice to make it then he is almost last in qualifying. Dont think he forgot how to drive the track before he went out to qual. This must be so upsetting for him, I know it is for all of us rooting for him. I cant believe this happened to him again!!!!

I hope Scott lands someplace where he is happy and he can succeed. Watching those F-1 politics from the outside as a fan has been interesting to say the least.

Very Happy that Brian made the race for Sunday. Watching Busch practice now...hope he can make that race as well.

Brian doesn't have to qualify for the Busch race. He is in for Dave Blanney which has the Owner Points. His Busch and Cup cars look fantastic for this weekend. I'm looking foward to great things from BDR and TRB. Good luck Brian.

Thanks, Kristin. Obviously, I haven't been paying attention. LOL Now I can skip qualifying tomorrow AM and rest easy knowing he is in the race. Looks like the car is pretty good right now.

Brian would be in the Busch race anyways as past champion, unless there is a fact somewhere I'm missing. Which given NASCAR qualifying these days, wouldn't be a surprise.

You're Welcome RvNGrammy! His car looks fantastic. Hopefully it stays that way tomorrow for the race. He goes out 18th in Qualifying, in case anyone wants to watch.

Scott Speed making an appearance on the nascar blog, watch out AJ. I like AJ hes a good driver, but hes missing too many races when Vickers with the same equipment is making it in. At what point do you lose patience.

Good luck TRB.

People, get off AJ's back. BV has his whole career of experiance racing stock cars on ovals! BV also has a proven Nextel Cup crew cheif. Not saying anything against Rick, I like Rick but these things take time. Dale Jarret, a past Cup Champ also missed the race while both of his teamates qualifyed top 20!!!

AJ has talent, there's no question. He had a bad draw and he needs more seat time. Once they go to the COT full time things will get better, but a new team, new car - things take time. I hope AJ continues to get the seat time he needs, and I hope they start Scott in a lower series if he decides to come to NASCAR.

I like Scott Speed as well, but I hope his appearance in the blog isn't foreshadowing an appearance in the 84 car. It's just been a huge learning year for TRB and AJ; I definitely hope we get a chance next year to see what they're like with a season under their belts.

Scott in a 3rd TRB car makes more sense to me than Scott replacing AJ in the 84.
