Buschwhackin'

Vickers is going Buschwhackin'! ("Buschwhacker is a nickname for Cup drivers who also compete in the Busch Series). Vickers will keep it in the Toyota family by piloting the No. 32 Braun Racing Camry at Daytona International Speedway and Lowe's Motor Speedway. New teammates - Jason Leffler and Cup regular Dave Blaney. With such a limited Busch schedule, Vickers has one focus, “I’m not racing for points – just wins!” Vickers has some pretty impressive Busch stats. In 2003 he took home the Busch Series Championship in his first full season of competition, becoming NASCAR’s youngest-ever champion at 20 years of age. In just 73 series starts, Vickers captured three wins, 16 top-fives and 28 top-10 finishes. Watch out Busch regulars - Vickers will be a force to be reckoned with.

That's one NASCAR rule that I disagree with. Once a driver makes it to the big leagues, they should stay there. I can maybe see wanting to try a truck race, but going Buschwhackin doesn't seem right, unless a driver was injured and/or out of the scene for a while and needed to ease back in. Good luck to Vickers anyway. He seems like a cool guy.

Just got my tickets for the Busch race at Daytona the other day. I am so excited for this announcement. I was really worried that I wouldn't have anyone to cheer for. Now, I can root Brian onto another Busch Victory.

In an unrelated topic, I was wondering to the person who went to the Michigan race this last weekend about the amount of merchandise in the Team Red Bull trailer near the track. Did they have things like round decals and an array of shirts (not sweaters, like on Brian's web site) for sale. I check team red bull and Vicker's site at least 10 times a week looking for these product updates but was wondering if the case of the at track hauler was different. Any help would be great as I'm dying for a round decal with 83 on it

I haven't been to a race yet (going to the Brickyard) but the trailer does have a lot more than the internet. I have had friends that have gone to some of the races and have sent pictures of what they have bought. Needless to say, I'm planning on going with A LOT of money to spend at the Red Bull trailer.

Hey Craig,
I was @ MIS this weekend and YES, there is much more at the track than on-line. They do have a round 83 decal and a couple other decals :) They had a variety of different short and long sleeve shirts, most were Team Red Bull, and not Brian specific, but I loved them ALL! They had key chains, pins, diecasts, license plates, LP holders, car flags, credential holders, pit boards, and quite a few hats. The girls that worked in the trailer were absolutely wonderful, so sweet and helpful!

That's great news. I can't wait. Nascar.com's shop just put up their first Team Red Bull / Brian Vickers shirt. It's nice, but it's white, I'd love a navy shirt. Obviously, all the stuff in the hauler may eventually come down to the online stores, but if not, I have to wait until the Kansas race in October to get anything. (I live in KC.)

If it gets desperate, I may have to wire money to another Vickers fan to buy me some of the goods.

LOL---I'm sure BV.com will be getting most of the stuff, eventually, they have the best selection so far!

Waiting for MIS was hard, but DEFINATELY worth it!

The Vatican did forget one rule.

Never leave your Red Bull unattended in your car. Although unconfirmed, your car could grow wings, never to be seen or heard from again.

You know BV fans, we could easily turn Kansas into Brian Vickers fan gathering. It was last year that I got to meet Brian at the Mt. Dew expose' on Friday of the weekend.

If not, I'll turn it into my own personal fan weekend then! There's very few of us who read this blog but I, like others, have been there since the beginning..today is just the first day I've posted.

That sounds cool Craig I love hearing that their is another Bv fan in the Kansas City area.I had the chance to meet BV last year on Saturday at the GMAC trailer and it was the best day of my life. I can not wait to see him race in person for the first time in the Cup series.

Hey Craig- I already past the desperate stage. I had a friend who lives in NC and went to the Coke 600. I made him pick me up a Red Bull hat that I wanted and I sent him a check.
