Points Game

The 4th race in the NSCS season finally saw both Red Bull Toyota's in the field. Brian Vickers No. 83 team had a race full of highlights including knocking off 10 positions in just 20 laps, earning the free pass to get his lap back on two separate occasions, leading a lap for five bonus points, and being one of only 13 cars to finish the race on the lead lap. The No. 83 earned their first top-10 finish of the year. The Bull Crew moved from 13th to 9th in the overall points standings, locking them into the top-35 after next weekend’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Brian's response? "Sweet!" Mike Skinner captured a 27th-place finish, bumping the No. 84 up in the overall points standings, from 46th to 43rd. The 36-race season requires steady progress like a marathon, not a sprint, marking round 1 with Skinner a success.

What an AWESOME race yesterday!! The Bull Crew should be proud along with Brian! Sweet is what I'd say also. The weight has been lifted and now we can race. Keep moving up 84....it won't be long and you'll be in the top 35 too. Today on Sirius radio, they were sure talking good about Brian. He's the one to watch!! Good for Red Bull, keep the talk going. Can't wait till we have a win to talk about!

Great to see Mike Skinner racing in Cup again. He is going to be a real asset to this program. Nice pickup by Red Bull Racing.

Question:

Why is there little to no Team Red Bull Merchandise anywhere on the internet? The best selection is on Brian Vickers' official site, and going to the Kansas race last year (and a few of you can attest to this as well) Vickers site actually had a wider variety of things than the trailer / hauler did.

This is an exciting time to be a Team Red Bull fan, and I'm dying to show my support in public for the team, but my selection is severely limited. Are things in the works? Or are we just stuck with what we have now? If so, that's actually pretty depressing, but I can probably manage to make due with what's available.

Craig. go to www.puma.com and search for "red bull". that should satisfy you for now :)

While that is nice, I was looking for more driver oriented and team licensed merchandise. I'm pretty sure Vickers only has one shirt with his name actually printed on it, and I own that one. I also own the khaki hat that looks like I didn't pay for shipping, but people are confused generally over whether I like the F1, NASCAR, or Red Bull Rally team...so the more NASCAR oriented merchandise I can get for TRB, the better.

Craig, they don't seem to do much driver specific stuff. I was at the hauler at Daytona and most of the specific stuff was for the ladies. They did have a #83 hat and a few other things but I think the main thrust is Red Bull. The new RB stuff is great (compared to last year) but there does not seem to be a priority to sell it online, unfortunatley.

I think the competition director should be fired for the crappy decisions with regard to driver development. whos in charge of that? this german steiner fellow or what? hes not getting it done....speed didnt cut it and aj is updating websites with his old lady.. WTF?

Speed didn't cut it because he had tire issues on several occasions. And, you know, it was his first time in one of the top three series. He deserves just as much development time.

Just as much development time? Who has gotten development time? He is the ONLY one to get time in a lower series. Everyone seems to forget AJ was NOT given that option. So we all need to quit comparing - its apples to oranges.
Like AJ says it is what it is - but dont compare what Speed is doing to what AJ has gone thru!

I didn't say that he had gotten the same amount, but that he deserved the time just as much.

Here is a great article ESPN did on Vickers and Red Bull. It may answer some of the constant questions everyone keeps posting:

dimarco where did you get this info from? I doubt this is true unless it has to do with the 84 team. McMullet do you even know why Vickers wanted to come to RBRT?

Love the site. Im a huge NASCAR fan. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get in touch with the operators of this site. I looked for an e-mail but couldn't find one. Any help would be appreciated. I hope every one enjoys the race at Bristol.

From Marty Smith ESPN Door to Door:
On to the most impressive story of the year thus far from my seat: Brian Vickers.
After an awful first season with Team Red Bull, The Sherriff came out guns a-blazin' in Year 2. In 2007, he failed to qualify for two of the first four races. This year, he's made them all -- from outside the top 35. I asked him recently to describe the pressure involved in having to qualify on speed every week.
"I don't think I can," he said. "I'm not sure anyone can."
It doesn't look like he'll have to worry about that much this time next week. Heading to Bristol, where he's always performed well, Vickers is ninth in points and on his way to earning a guaranteed starting position among the top 35 for the first time in Team Red Bull history.
And he's not settling for just making races, either. On average this season, he improves 21 positions in each start, and last weekend at Atlanta marched from 35th to ninth.
And Vickers in on my fantasy team. He was the 26th driver of 40 taken in my league draft. I stole him, folks.

Why does it either have to be about BV or AJ, one of the other, like thier is a line in the sand. I root for AJ on raceday (when he is in the race), but I am rooting for BV just as hard, and am damn proud at the great start the 83 team has. I root for the TEAM, come June when both BV and AJ are racing weekly, this will be a great time to be a fan of TRB.

RED BULL TEAM ROCKS!!
Great job Brian and the #83 Team way to go. Keep up the momentum!!
We Love Mike Skinner he is a great race car driver and needs to stay in the RB#84 car. He will make the #84 team and Red Bull Toyota very successful.
