AJ's Fantasy World
AJ Allmendinger hails from Los Gatos, Calif., not far from the old Candlestick Park in San Francisco. He grew up in the backyard of NFL legends Joe Montana and Steve Young — both Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks with the San Francisco 49ers — yet AJ bleeds green and gold and cheers his heart out for No. 4.
Not the Morgan-McClure entry in Nextel Cup, but Brett Favre, quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. AJ is, in fact, a Cheesehead and is so passionate about football that he “owns” a fantasy football team. (For those of you that live under a rock, fantasy football is a game where participants draft and manage a team using real-life NFL players. Statistics mean everything.)
The morning of his Busch Series debut Sept. 1 at California Speedway, AJ hung out with a member of Red Bull Racing’s marketing department in the hotel lobby, providing his expert analysis on the NFL. One thing became clear — you better not bad mouth Favre while AJ’s around. Or any of the Packers, for that matter.
But AJ doesn’t have Favre at his disposal. Instead, he has Cincinnati’s Carson Palmer and the New England Patriots defense. Donald Driver, a Packers wide receiver, is part of Team Allmendinger, however.
And in case you’re wondering, we’ve never heard AJ asking for a Packers score on the radio during a race.

Well they won today so that should make AJ very happy - unlike the car he had to drive today. Good job finishing the race and gaining points. Sometimes thats all you can do!!
Way to hang in there BV and AJ. Also way to hang in there 83 crew with all the things you had to change during the racce today. Better Luck next week guys.
We Believe
yesssss cheesehead. I was raised in a cheesehead family, they won today.. it was LOUD in my house. Could barely hear Brian complaining on the radio over the racket. (by the way, that sucked... agh), anyway, yay aj! Go Pack! (aaaaaaand the Panthers)
I read online that the #83 was having alternator problems today. If so, this is the fifth or sixth time this season. Might be time to find a new alternator supplier...this is getting stupid.
It sure hurt that practice was rained out!
Doug and Brian did a great job of putting perspective to this race and hung in there to do basically track testing. It seems so important in the COT. The other teams are making progress and TRB seems to be struggling with this car.
On the positive side…they both made the race and didn’t let a large lead in points get out of hand!
Good luck next week TRB!!!
Owner Points:
34. Kyle Petty #45 2,065 -3,145
35. Glen Wood #21 2,022 -3,188
36. Bill Davis #22 1,983 -3,227
37. James Rocco #10 1,810 -3,400
38. Dietrich Mateschitz #831,745 -3,465
39. Calvin Wells, III #00 1,649 -3,561
WORST race of the year, our COT program is absolutely pathetic
Telling AJ the Packers score if they are winning is a good idea, but definately not if they are losing lol. Dont want to be anywhere near AJ when the Packers arent winning, can get pretty ugly!
A J don't bleed green. he ia a die hard denver fan. come one get the story rite
AJ is a Denver fan? I think thems fightin' words.
Why did Brian get black flaged and what was wrong with his car? The TV nevers tells you anything!!!
I think he got black flagged because he ran the pit road paddle. That was a long day...is Dover a COT race?
Dover is a COT race but it's the flat track COT races that have been causing so much trouble. BV ran great in Dover before he cut down a tire which pretty much killed his day after that. After Dover is Kansas (I think) and that race is with the other car.
Does anyone know if TRB will be testing in Daytona this week with Goodyear and the COT?
Did anyone notice that AJ moved up into 43rd spot in owners points with his finish yesterday?? Because there's a few cars that don't exist anymore, ahead of him. So if it rains....he's finally safe. Congrats AJ on that accomplishment. I know it was your teams goal. Good job hanging onto to that car! Bouncy huh?!
What happens if qualifying gets rained out?
After the 5th race of the season, the current season OWNERS points are used:
#1) - First 35 by current Owner Points
#2) - Last Years Cup Champ or the Event Champion if not already in the field
#3) - Car Owners whose team has won in the previous and current season not already in the field
#4) - Drivers who have won in the previous and current season not already in the field
#5) - Past Nextel Cup Champions not in by 1 thru 4 [provisional not used/charged]
#6) - Qualifying Attempts with Owners points as the tie breaker
#7) - Qualifying Order Position
(all above apply as long as the team was entered by the entry deadline - usually 7-13 days before the race)
No, it doesn't look like neither driver is on the list for the tire test at Daytona. The only Toyota is Michael Waltrip. Do I really need to respond about that one? LOL! Way to hang in there yesterday Brian and AJ. Hopefully Dover is better for both teams.
WE BELIEVE!!!
yes.. because wlatrip is such a deligt *roll eyes*
the black flag was because he ran the red light, which brian debated, and then apparently did a pass through and then said they told them stop and go... it was really pretty ridiculous, New Hampshire officials sure seem to have it in for the 83. either way, batteries had issues, break bias still isnt right, and they ended up changin an alternator. so it didnt matter anyway.
uhhhh thanks for insulting me on a blog, thats pretty cool.
I'm aware of how the officials work my dear. I was just pointing out New Hampshire seems to screw us.
and kinof isn't a word. I believe you were looking for "kind of"
