Pit Sharing
One of the unique things about Dover International Speedway is that it only has 42 pit stalls. That poses a bit of a problem when a Nextel Cup field consists of 43 cars! Since the #84 car has to start at the back of the field in the provisional spot in 43rd, we will have to start off the race sharing a pit with the #70, which will start 42nd.The two crew chiefs Ricky and Booty have agreed that whichever car is higher in the field can pit first. Hopefully that will be the #84. But in the case that Johnny Sauter is in front of AJ, we will have to wait on the #70 car to pit before we can. We will use our pit crew, but the #70's equipment. As soon as the first car drops out of the race, the #84 will take over that pit. So for the beginning of the race, the #84 pit box will sit at the end of pit road, ready for the pit crew guys to push it as soon as the first pit opens up.
The only other track where cars have to share pit stalls is Watkins Glen.

Tropical Depression Barry obviously isn't a race fan. Rain has been postponed until tomorrow at 12:00pm eastern time.
another example of NASCAR's rules that make no sense...if you time trial 28th (or whatever) fastest you should have 28th choice of pit--not be put to the rear because you were the slowest of the go or go home cars to make the field!
how can one mount a campaign to eliminate the top 35 guarantee and let the fastest make the race regardless of who you are...I could even buy into the top 12 being guaranteed because that would change weekly depnding on who the top 12 are....call it an incentive for staying in the "dirty dozen"
So, yeah, rain is really crappy!
At least they'll get the whole race in this way.....

If you figure out how to start that campaign let us know!! Even Waltrip and McReynolds during qual said its unbelievable that AJ could run a 24.0 and be in 23rd (at that time) and you may go home. Most people seem frustrated with that rule.
Don't worry. Qualifying will be changed next season especially if Jr has to qualify for the first 5 races.
