Back to Business

Life’s been a little different for AJ Allmendinger since he capped off Red Bull Racing Team’s winning week with a victory in the Sprint Showdown.

Reality, however, quickly set in.

“It all starts again,” AJ said. “Got to qualify to get in the show.”

AJ’s No. 84 Red Bull Toyota sits 40th in the owner standings, still 170 points out of the top 35. But he’s taken a liking to 1.5-mile Lowe’s Motor Speedway, where his career-best finish of 15th came in fall 2007.

Teammate Brian Vickers, one of four North Carolina-born drivers entered in NASCAR’s longest race, is 17th in points, with the Chase’s final spot only 105 points away. Brian led 76 laps and earned the team’s first top-five finish in last year’s 600.

Thursday’s lone 90-minute practice is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET. Qualifying for 48 cars is set for 7:10 p.m.

wowz0rz. BV 3rd in qualifying. DUDE. That equals a win on Sunday. Great effort guys. I feel like doing "the worm" cuz I'm THAT excited. I can see it already. "Vickers not only took the lead, he's running away with it with a 5 second lead on the second place car".

WooHoo! 2 RBR Toyota Camry's in the show. You know, I'm thinking Skinner did a wonder over at the 84team. Congratulations everyone at Red Bull Racing. We, the fans, are SO proud of you! Now let's go out there and win the Coke 600.

We are on a roll! Go RBRT!

I know Skinner helped AJ a lot, but I'm not sure BV isn't helping more by running well every weekend. BV SPECIFICALLY said they worked on qualifying yesterday. It looks like the 83 team is able to do whatever it wants to do with MAJOR CONFIDENCE.

That knowledge and confidence has a far greater impact on AJ and the 84 team than Skinner EVER had.

I sure LOVE seeing RBRT become a team to reckon with every week! Let's get a third car in the field next year and monopolize this Cup!

That's a good call. BV had a fast car in the Showdown and it seemed like track position was very important. Lowe's might look like the Darlington race, where clean air makes a huge difference.

lol so I hear that BV was a total d-bag today at the fan appreciation day at RBR. Does anyone feel like sharing a story? I heard AJ was very friendly and cool with everyone.

I have 2 friends in North Carolina and they were there for the Fan Appreciation Day. They told me they had a good time and all, but they said that meeting BV wasn't so great.

I quote friend A;
"We rolled across town to Knob Hill road for Fan appreciation day. Well, BV and AJ cruised in with a street legal Red Bull 83 car and Brian smoked the tires pretty good. Well we waited in line for an autograph and I'll be damned if Vickers didn't even acknowledge us, although he made an autograph request for my "little brother" Curt. And as usual, A.J. was cool and friendly with the fans."

and friend B;
"AJ was kewl s***... I explained that I came all the way from Ontario Canada n AJ was like "O dude where's my wife?? Thats where she's from, you should go find her".. I WAS TOLD TO GO HANGOUT WITH HIS WIFE!!!"

Still I'm excited they got BV to sign his stat card for me.

Just sounds to me like Brian was pretty busy. Just trying to make sure everyone got their autograph requests...
