Ready, Set, Go!
Well, a year's work came to fruition last night at the Bud Shootout. Team Red Bull finally took to the track in a race situation, albeit an exhibition race. It didn't take long for Brian to nudge his No. 83 to the front, leading laps two and three -- the first time a Toyota has led a Cup race. But as expected, help didn't come often for Brian, as first he was hung out to dry by his former HMS teammates and then had difficult time finding drafting help behind him the rest of the night. Get used to it folks. Welcome to NASCAR. Brian hung in there and escaped the last lap crash to pull an eighth place effort for the team. The mood was high back in the pits and garage afterwards. Now the focus turns to the 500, which will be the toughest to qualify in its long history. 
Brian got the first qualifying position, which doesn't help things. Normally, being first means you get a hotter (and slower) track, and you don't learn any setup changes from previous qualifiers. If today proves difficult, Brian can still race his way in during the Duels races on Thursday. As he showed last night, he knows his way around restrictor plate tracks.

Awesome race last night. It was great to see the Red Bull Toyota leading, even if it was for a lap. Good luck to both teams today.
nice to see Vickers can and will hang with the boys, I was very impressed seeing as how he got no help from anybody - ever. Even Jarret was kinda useless. 8th is seriously a solid performance, Gilliand was also a suprise - Stewarts comments to SPEED TV early in practice were absolutly classic - the France family makesbillions, hire some spotters HA HA
I went to the shootout last night, and had a lot of fun listening to Vickers' channel. The comment he made to David Green about getting the 83 confused with another car was absolutely priceless, and unrepeatable here. However, I was agitated from walking around for 4 hours yesterday in a vain attempt to purchase a single piece of red bull gear.
I'm waiting for my hat...I need a date. I feel like Cartman waiting on a Nintendo Wii.
They already said on another blog that you'll be able to buy merchandise at the Daytona 500. It's not the Daytona 500 yet. Still one more week.
Brian did so good in the Bud Shootout..the pit crew also did good for there first official pit stop in a racing event...Im proud to be a fan of Team Red Bull

Great job by Brian and the Crew, it was expected that Brian was going to get hung out to dry at every possable moment, so to finish 8th is an excellent job by TEAM RED BULL, looking forward to a fresh start with Vickers and the gang, going from 4th in peaking order wih HMS to "THE MAN" is going to be great in seeing the maturization of Brian, we all know Brian didn't forget how to win races and Championships, so the skys the limit right now, with getting 1st rate equipment not 4th.

I was very happy with the finish the team got. I felt bad because he couldnt get any help, but he did it by himself. I am very upset with JRoush he is mad because toyota took all his employees. my son worked for him twice and was unhappy with him both times. they dont know how to treat their employees and so far this team is doing great. I hope they make the race but if they dont, they will do their best and there's always CA. GOOD LUCK
ah nathan, I had that same experience Saturday night. I was bummed I couldn't buy anything (but it actually happens every year, the 25 trailor tends to be back there too)
but listening to BV's audio was priceless, absolutely loved it.
and hey, Brian led 2 laps in a Toyota, first Nextel Cup Competition laps led by one.
Just wish he was racing today.. pretty much sucks without him out there.
