If It's Almost Right...It's Wrong

That’s the motto of the TRB Quality Control Department. Derrick, our Certified Quality Control Technician, is using a Coordinate Measurement Machine to verify dimensions on each and every part that goes onto our race cars. Bet you didn’t even know that department existed, huh? Derrick is new to the world of racing, but with five years of QC experience and tons of special training – he’s got a keen eye for knowing if the parts match the engineering drawings. The hardest part of his job is “Learning the numbers that are assigned to each part.” That’s no easy task either – there’s about 1500 parts that make up each car!

Congratulations, D. It is good to see our profession making an impact in another industry, that's exciting, i.e. NASCAR. This gives other professionals like me hope because maybe we can actually have FUN doing our job.

Wow, those dimensional measurement instrument and inspection services really go a long way in ensuring that race cars are in excellent performance condition. I've been watching NASCAR for a while and got interested with its ins and outs. I believe that being in quality control really takes a lot of hard work, but it pays off with, in this case, fierce racing cars.
