HAHAHAHA MY rain dance worked!!!! Look under the "no honeymoon in the Poconos" header, I was nervous for AJ qualifying against the GOGH crowd. Now he is locked into the show... He has to come from the back, but it's all good...

Jason - where was that rain dance last week in Pocono when he was at the front when rain came???????

No more rain dancing, please. They need the practice tomorrow, lol.

I was at the race at Pocono last week!
I dint pull out the rain dance then because...
A. Both Riggs and McDowell were ahead of AJ at the time of the rain, thats counter-productive!!!

B. I only get to go to Pocono, so I wanted to see 500 miles!!!

Ya, he needs some laps tomorrow to shake down the red bull rocket!

It's a relief to know that he's locked into the field, but I was hoping they would get qualifying in and possibly a better starting position.

It should be interesting to see him put some of that road race experience into play and come through the field. I have no doubts that he will make places to pass.

I love the meet and greet thing in Cali. We need more stuff for AJ fans. I just wish I was able to go to it. Maybe they'll do it again next year.

I was curious to put Brian Vickers and AJ up head to head since AJ got into the car in points scored...

After Talladega BV had 994 pts, AJ had 78-

Now BV has 2329, AJ has 1096
BV has scored 1315 pts, AJ 1018 a difference of 297 pts. I think he has done a pretty good job!

BV's website said the tires were chattering really bad on his car.

As they run right now, AJ is in the top 35 by a bit, but I'm not sure how far in he is.

This should be it, friend. If this isn't enough for Red Bull to re-sign AJ, I don't know what it's going to take.

Yoo-hoo, Yippee and Yee-Haa! He is offically in the top 35!! Way to go AJ!! Ran a hell of a race today.

AJ's in the top 35! #4th to be excact. Way to go 84 team. TRB needs to lock up AJ RIGHT NOW!. Good job today guys!

11th place for A.J. puts him in the top 35!

34th in points, that is amazing!!!!

They better re-sign him now, or someone else will snatch him up.

Thank you Jimmy Elledge!!!! And great race for AJ - he rocked the road course on his first visit there.

18th place run gives BV hopes for the chase!

Actually, I'm showing 35th now - 11 behind Hornish. I had written Hornish off after the damage in that wreck, but he picked up a couple spots and AJ lost a couple spots in that last lap.

I'm showing that AJ is 8 to the good over McDowell and 31 over Riggs. They told McDowell over his radio that he was in the top 35. They must have only been looking at him beating Riggs and not AJ leap frogging both of them.

I wonder if there will be any penalties for rough driving. Usually they assess those at the time, so I'm guessing that Gilliland and McDowell will only get a tongue lashing.

his agent should have not trouble at all gettin him signed now, its all on RB shoulders now!!

The decision lies in the hands of the Red Bull people in Austria. If it was up to Jay Frye, he would've renewed AJ's contract long ago. Congratulations #84 team. It's been a long time coming. Michigan should we a lot of fun now.

Congratulations AJ and the 84 team, and all of Red Bull. Should be a good week!

Redbull needs to lock up AJ now and instead of adding a 3rd cup car, they need to add a team in the nationwide series. Imagine what AJ and Vickers could have done here if they had the same advantages as Johnson, Busch and others, racing the the Nationwide cars the night before.

Get a team started there now, and let Vickers and AJ Share the Car 50/50.

GREAT JOB TODAY BY THE *$ TEAM!!!! AJ is IN THE TOP 35!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good job today form the 84 team. Top 35 goal has been reached. Now its time to keep it there.

I am a little concerned TRB hasnt offered AJ a contract yet. AJ has turned it around since the new crew chief actually knows what he's doing.

At point does AJ start entertaining offers from other teams? Or at what point does other teams see this guy hasnr been signed yet and start going after him? Put AJ with the right team and the right crew chief and he'll win Remember His Champ car days with forsythe?

Come on Rebull, sign this guy and pay him what he's worth. You got a potential young stud here, dont wait too much longer.

Ive heard inside rumors that AJ has been talked to about driving the #5 next year...

4:33 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

The 5 is locked up, friend. Mark Martin has that ride. If RBRT isn't going to pick him up, I wish they would tell him. He has busted his butt to get to where he is, so keeping him on the edge really isn't fair to AJ.

The RCR 33 car looks pretty tempting, I'm sure.

The 33 is rumored to be driven by Casey Mears in 09.

I would only like it if AJ stays with Red Bull. He and Jimmy Elledge have something great going on. They're running top 15 every week. Red Bull has to extend his contract this week.

6:11 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's time for Jimmy Elledge and Jay Frye to speak up in the media and tell them they want to keep working with AJ- there has to be some sort of protest, that this has gone long enough- AJ is running top 20 every week and gettin better all the time. Red Bull should have the contract ready for him Monday morning

6:56 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Im pretty sure the success Scott Speed is having this year is playing a big part in the delay of AJ's contract. AJ should start putting feelers out there once again since TRB isnt showing much respect by waiting too long to have a contract ready for him

7:59 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's not TRB, it's Dietrich Mateschitz, but keep in mind how many athletes are sponsored by Red Bull, over 600! Scott Speed will get his own team, not the #84, which has been said a thousand times already.

This is a European thing. This is the way they do business. It is very cut-throat. They could care less if AJ is put out by them waiting to resign. AJ is doing great, but to RB management, it is just business.

Now if AJ suddenly nails down a top 5 and challenges for a win...the balance of power will shift. But so far, AJ has not quite generated enough buzz to get other teams at Red Bulls level to start considering him for a ride.

Keep in mind...AJ does not bring much in the way of sponsor money with him. He just has not developed that following or corporate support yet.....

AJ just needs to keep geting better, and trust that he will be rewarded. I think he will be.

10:14 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

So what you are saying is if something comes up before RB offers him an extension he should probably take it - because im sure here in the pits his growth as a driver has not gone unnoticed. Sad that RB works that way and even sadder for us as fans who have stuck by this team if he were to leave. Trust that you will be rewarded if another ride is offered is not how it works anymore in the corporate world im afraid. Bringing sponsors is the norm in other forms of racing but Nascar sponsors will pick drivers based on marketability. AJ has that. It will be RB loss if they let him get away.
